A real world traveler

Sander Nouwen has seen a lot of the world.  As a student he travelled with his backpack through Australia and South America.

He is certainly no stranger to barge owners or clients, he must certainly be well known from the stories as ‘’son of’’ managing director René Nouwen.

Sander successfully completed the HBO Logistics and Economics Study after the MBO Port logistics at the STC Rotterdam.

Was it clear from the beginning that you would opt for barging?

Sander: No, certainly not. Right after my study I started at a trucking company. Then I worked for a year at a company in domestic barging.

However, the international chartering seemed more interesting and challenging to me, and because Nautica needed extra staff, it was a logical step for me to take and to join the company.

Do you like it, so far?

The atmosphere in the workplace is very good. We all have the ‘’mind set ” to make the most of it, every day and to provide barge owner and shipper with the right service.

I feel quite at home at Nautica.

And here you are, standing at the helm…

Yes indeed.  These past years have been very meaningful to me and not easy at all. When René decided to hand over the future to a new generation, it took only a few weeks when Armyn and I both could sign the official buying documents.

We are looking to the future with confidence. This great company, founded by René, will continue in his spirit.  And he’s still there. Although on the background, but still able to keep on sharing his knowledge and expertise. That’s how it should be!

We are surrounded by an excellent team! We go for it!
