“DREAM-JOB ?!”
Christian Stieg started in 2008 at Nautica having ‘ the Speditions Kaufmännische Ausbilding ‘ as his luggage.
He has a broad range of interests., and always looking for possibilities to improve his knowledge. It helps a lot that he loves reading and likes to use foreign languages. To know some French helps him a lot at work.
Do you enjoy your work?
Yes, I find being in touch with everyone in the industry a challenge. It is a continuous learning process! Every day there are many actors in this maritime theatre who work together but sometimes also work against each other. It is all about giving and taking.
What does the client exactly require? How can we meet that? Considering and calculating water levels, too much or too little tonnage for your available barge. Chartering is a challenge!
It’s great when the client is satisfied, and the barge owner is well served. And serving the barge owner is for Nautica not always about money. Even if the car crane unexpectedly breaks down, we make sure that the barge owner can use a company car for a day to remain mobile.
What is most important to you, Christian?
Being honest, but I expect that from others too.
How do you think about the future?
It is certain that high-tech and increasing automation will also have a major impact on
the transport world we currently live in.
“Nautica should not watch this from the side lines but go along with this development!”
One thing regarding the future we know for sure, it remains exciting!
