“NAUTICA MISSES THE ‘STUCK BETWEEN 4 WALLS’ FEELING!”

Head of Finance Nel Springvloed is married, has a son and a daughter, is not afraid of a firm discussion and has a bright character! She brings joy to the Nautica office. She once embarked on a container barge, departing from Rotterdam with destination: Belgium.  She understands the ins and outs of the tide.

She is also checking the river during holidays: ‘do I know that barge?’

During low water periods, she sure does understand the importance of the ‘Kauber Pegel’.

Nearly 19 years ago, it happened that Nel ran into Miranda (ex Manag-Assistant)  by coincidence while shopping. They had worked together elsewhere before. “Everything OK? Enjoying your job?” “Yes, but nevertheless I am looking for something new” Nel said.

Long story short, a few weeks later, she signed a work contract and has been with the company ever since.

Why Nautica?

“It’s a small, dedicated team, and although the opinion may be that working with just figures might be boring, my job does have its variety. Demurrages, low water situations or phone conversations with barge owners. This complexity keeps me sharp. Nautica does not have the ‘stuck between 4 walls’ feeling. We are a team! My colleague Hans Kouwen was my mentor in finance/invoicing”.

And now your mentor is enjoying his retirement?

Sure, he is. Since May 2022, Hans Kouwen is enjoying his well-deserved retirement.  Now, it’s been nearly 1 year, that I, full of enthusiasm, took over most of his tasks.  Supported by 2 new colleagues, the three of us team up great!
